The Philips InfraCare PR3110 works using a 150-watt PAR 38 incandescent lamp to produce a localized warmth applied to specific parts of the body. The infrared light specifically reaches the surface of the skin and generates a warm heat for the deeper tissues and the blood vessels. It dilates the vessels and creates a localized increase of the local blood flow. This increased blood flow means that essential nutrients and oxygen will reach affected tissues more quickly, while metabolic waste products will be more efficiently removed from them.
