Bishad Sindhu is the greatest and most widely discussed literary work of Mir Mosharraf Hossain. Based on the heart-wrenching events of Karbala in Islamic history, this work portrays the lives, sacrifices, and tragic fates of Imam Hasan and Imam Husayn. Between 1885 and 1891, the book was published in three parts: Uddhar Parba, Udyog Parba, and Ejad-Badh Parba. Later, these parts were compiled and published together as a complete book. Combining historical events, religious emotions, dramatic elements, and literary imagination, this work holds a unique place in Bengali literature. Its distinctive language, emotionally evocative descriptions, and profound human appeal continue to deeply touch readers even today.
