Some common rules or customs for wearing green bangles in the month of Shravan are—
1. Wearing them from Monday is considered auspicious – especially on the first Monday of Shravan or any Shravan Monday, bangles are worn after worshipping Lord Shiva.
2. Married women wear bangles after worshipping Shiva-Parvati – this ritual is observed to pray for the long life of the husband, and happiness, peace, and prosperity of the family.
3. Breaking or intentionally removing bangles is avoided – in many families, it is believed that auspicious bangles worn in the month of Shravan should be kept with care until the end of the month.
4. Conch shell-coral (shakha-pola) or red bangles are also worn along with green – green is considered a symbol of prosperity, red of good fortune, and shakha-pola as a sign of auspiciousness in married life.
