I used this in my own bedroom. Mostly used while playing computer games. When I wasn't at home, meaning not using it, I kept it covered nicely. Although used, it looks brand new. There are no scratches or spots. The gear, shock absorber, and all switches are completely okay. The chair is very sturdy, and I customized the wheels with larger ones.
